The MPI Automotive SSMKTY0149 is the cat-delete version: a 3in hotdog section for the Toyota Hilux KUN26R 3.0L D4-D that runs without the catalytic converter. Because it removes the cat from a road exhaust, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is for off-road use only.
What does running without a cat mean here?
This SSMKTY0149 deletes the catalytic converter, which is why it is an off-road part. Removing the cat from the 3.0L D4-D exhaust strips out emissions hardware the Hilux left the factory with, so the section is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW. It suits competition, paddock or property work, not a registered road vehicle.
Why the 3in bore and a hotdog?
At 3in the bore is sized for a turbo-diesel Hilux that has been opened up, giving the exhaust room to flow once the cat is gone. The hotdog is a compact straight-through resonator that knocks down a drone frequency without choking the pipe, so it keeps the 3in run free-flowing while taking the edge off cruise boom on the gravel.
