The MPI Automotive SSMKTY0199 is a 4in single system for the pre-DPF Toyota Landcruiser VDJ79 V8 4.5L turbo-diesel dual cab ute (2012–2016) that runs no catalytic converter and no muffler. The cat-delete defines it: with the converter gone and no muffler in the run, this is the most open, off-road-only configuration in this VDJ79 single range.
Why this is an off-road-only system
Because the SSMKTY0199 removes the catalytic converter on a road-relevant diesel system, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road use only. With no muffler either, there is nothing in the path to restrict flow or absorb sound. There is no softening the cat-delete — it takes the ute out of road-legal emissions configuration, so we fit it for genuine off-road use only.
What does 4in single, no cat, no muffler give you?
This is a 4in single layout for the 4.5L V8, the most open of the four configurations in this 2012–2016 VDJ79 family — neither converter nor muffler in the path. There is no chambering to absorb sound and no converter to restrict flow, so the note is loud and hard. It suits a built ute run off-road where flow is the priority.
