The MPI Automotive SSMKTY0300 is a 3in DPF-back exhaust for the Toyota Landcruiser 300 Series V6 that runs without a muffler and finishes on a 4in chrome tip. The DPF-back layout defines it: it replaces the system behind the diesel particulate filter, leaving the factory DPF in place, and the no-muffler path keeps it open from there back.
What does a DPF-back system replace?
A DPF-back run starts behind the diesel particulate filter and replaces everything from there to the tip — a shorter span than a turbo-back. On the 300 Series V6 the factory DPF and the hardware ahead of it stay untouched, and the 3in pipework plus 4in chrome tip handle flow and the exit from the filter back. It is the rear-section upgrade rather than a full engine-back change.
Why run it without a muffler?
Leaving the muffler out keeps the section behind the DPF as open as possible, giving a louder, more direct note than a muffled DPF-back. There is no chambered body to absorb sound, so the character is harder. It finishes on a 4in chrome tip for the visible exit, suiting an owner wanting a freer rear path with a bright tail.
