The MPI Automotive SSMKTY0310 is a 3in turbo-back for the Toyota Landcruiser 300 Series V6 that keeps the catalytic converter, runs without a muffler and exits on a 4in black tip. The with-cat, no-muffler pairing is its signature: it leaves the emissions converter in place while opening the path for a freer-flowing, harder note.
Cat retained, muffler removed — what does that mean?
Keeping the catalytic converter means the emissions hardware that matters for road compliance stays in place, while dropping the muffler opens the system for a louder, more direct note than a muffled build. There is no chambered body to absorb sound, so the character is raw, but the converter is still fitted. It is the with-cat, open configuration in the 300 Series V6 range.
Why a 4in black tip on a 3in system?
The system runs 3in bore through the turbo-back and finishes on a 4in black tip for the visible exit — the tip steps up the diameter at the tail for appearance.
