The MPI Automotive SSMKTY0315 is a 3in turbo-back for the Toyota Hilux GUN126R 2.8L that deletes the catalytic converter, omits sensor ports and runs a hotdog resonator. The cat-delete sets it apart: with the converter removed, this is an off-road-only system, paired with a compact hotdog to take the edge off the note.
Why this is an off-road-only build
Because the SSMKTY0315 removes the catalytic converter on the GUN126R, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is intended for off-road use only. It also comes without sensor ports, which suits a build that is not running the factory sensor setup. There is no softening the cat-delete — it takes the Hilux out of road-legal emissions configuration.
What does the hotdog add over a no-muffler build?
A hotdog is a small straight-through resonator: gas passes through a perforated core wrapped in packing, trimming the harshest frequencies without the restriction of a baffled muffler. On this cat-deleted Hilux turbo-back it gives a freer-flowing path than a full muffler while taking some of the raw edge off the note. It is the hotdog point in the GUN126R range.
