The MPI Automotive SSMKTY0411 takes the most direct route: a 3in dual turbo-back for the Toyota LandCruiser GDJ79 Ute 2.8L (2023 on) with no muffler in the system at all. That straight-through layout is the defining feature here — the loudest, freest-flowing build in this configuration.
What does running without a muffler mean?
With no muffler and no resonator, exhaust gas runs straight from the turbo to the tailpipe through 3in dual pipe. There's nothing to absorb or reflect sound, so the SSMKTY0411 carries the hardest, most uninterrupted note of the GDJ79 turbo-back options — purposeful rather than civil. It's a build for owners who've decided they want minimal restriction and accept the tone that comes with it.
Why delete the cat and the muffler together?
This build is aimed at off-road and competition users who want minimal restriction. Because it's a turbo-back without the catalytic converter, it removes emissions hardware the LandCruiser came with and is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW. It's off-road use only — we won't pretend otherwise, and we'll talk you through the trade-offs before you order.

- Louder and harder than any muffled version, because nothing in the system absorbs sound. We can't quote a decibel figure, but it's the most open of the GDJ79 turbo-back builds.
- Can I register the SSMKTY0411 for road use?
- No. It deletes the catalytic converter, so it's not ADR 79/04 compliant for NSW registration and is supplied for off-road use only.
