Sized at 3in and routed DPF-back with no rear muffler, the MPI Automotive SSMKTY0501 is the free-flowing tailpipe answer for the Toyota GDJ251R Prado 2.8L turbo-diesel from 2024 on. It picks up after the diesel particulate filter and runs to the tip without a muffler, so the focus is flow and a more present note rather than extra silencing.

Why a DPF-back at 3in and no muffler?

A DPF-back replaces the section behind the diesel particulate filter, leaving the filter and the emissions hardware ahead of it untouched. At 3in it gives the 2.8L turbo-diesel a generous, consistent bore from the DPF outlet rearward, and because this one is built without a rear muffler the gas path is as open as the layout allows. The trade-off is honest: deleting the rear muffler lets more of the diesel's natural note through, so expect a fuller tone than the hushed factory tail. The DPF itself stays in place, which is the part that does the emissions and noise work the regulator cares about.

Will it suit my 2024 Prado?

It is listed to fit the Toyota GDJ251R Prado with the 2.8L turbo-diesel from 2024 onward. That is the current-generation Prado, so the DPF location, hanger points and tailpipe exit are all model-specific — confirm your exact build and any tow-bar or accessory clearances with the workshop before ordering, since feed data can lag running changes.

Is it road legal?

This system keeps the diesel particulate filter, so it does not touch the DPF the way an off-road delete pipe would. That said, replacing factory silencing changes the vehicle's as-delivered exhaust, and noise compliance is assessed on the whole car — confirm the current NSW requirements and your intended use with the workshop before committing.

What does fitting involve at our Illawarra workshop?

Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits the SSMKTY0501 in-house across the Illawarra. We check the DPF flange seal, set the hanger rubbers so a muffler-delete tail doesn't load the body, and confirm tip alignment at the bumper. Send your VIN or build details and we'll verify the fitment and book the bay.

Common questions

Does the SSMKTY0501 remove the DPF?
No. It is a DPF-back system, so it starts behind the diesel particulate filter and leaves the DPF and the hardware ahead of it in place.
Will it be louder without the rear muffler?
It is built without a rear muffler, so more of the diesel's note carries through than on the factory tail. We can't quote a sound level — come and hear a comparable fit at the workshop.
Is this listed for the current Prado?
Yes — it's listed to fit the Toyota GDJ251R Prado 2.8L turbo-diesel from 2024 on. Confirm your exact variant with us before ordering.
