The MPI Automotive SSMKTY0505 is a stainless 3in turbo-back system, no muffler and no cat, listed to fit the Toyota Prado GDJ251R 2.8L turbo-diesel from 2024 on. Deleting the cat is the defining choice here: this is the most open, least restricted build in the range, and that comes with a hard road-legality caveat.
Is it road legal in NSW?
No. Because the SSMKTY0505 removes the catalytic converter on a turbo-back diesel system, it is not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW and is for off-road use only. There's no softening that — deleting the cat takes out the emissions hardware the Prado left the factory with, so it's intended for competition or off-road vehicles, not a registered daily.
What does a no-cat, no-muffler turbo-back change?
Turbo-back means the system is replaced from the turbo outlet rearward — a longer span than a cat-back.
