Built from 409 stainless, the Redback STR131-3 is a dual 3in rear muffler for the VT, VX, VY and VZ V8 sedan. The 409 material is the calling card — a stainless grade chosen for corrosion life on a high-flow twin 3in rear box.
Why 409 stainless?
409 is a ferritic stainless commonly used for exhaust because it resists the corrosion and heat cycling that rusts out plain steel. On the STR131-3 that means a dual 3in rear muffler built to last longer under the back of a V8 sedan than an aluminised box. The twin 3in bore suits the V8's flow rather than a stock six.
Where does it sit in the system?
This is the rear muffler section only, not a full exhaust. It replaces the dual 3in rear box on a VT–VZ V8 sedan, joining to your existing centre and cat-back pipework. That makes it a targeted upgrade or repair for the back of the car rather than a whole-system job.
