The MPI Automotive EMG223 is an extractor gasket listed to fit the Ford V6 Capri. It seals the joint between the extractors or manifold and the cylinder head on that engine.
What does an extractor gasket do?
An extractor gasket seals the flange between the extractors or factory manifold and the cylinder head, so exhaust gas does not leak at the joint. The EMG223 is cut for the Ford V6 Capri's port pattern. It is a consumable sealing part, not a performance part, and a fresh one goes in whenever the manifold or extractors are removed from the engine.
When do you replace it?
Replace an exhaust gasket whenever the headers or manifold come off, or on its own if the old gasket has started to blow at the head. The Ford Capri is now an older car, so the original gasket may be tired; a new EMG223 restores a clean seal when the work is done.
