The MPI Automotive EMG316 is an extractor gasket listed to fit the Mitsubishi FTO V6 2.0 litre. It seals the joint between the extractors and the cylinder head on that engine.
What is an extractor gasket?
An extractor gasket sits between the extractors or factory manifold and the cylinder head, sealing the flange so exhaust gas does not escape at the joint. The EMG316 is cut for the Mitsubishi FTO's 2.0 litre V6 port layout. It is a consumable sealing part, not a performance part, and goes in fresh whenever the manifold or headers are removed.
When should it be replaced?
Replace an exhaust gasket whenever the extractors or manifold come off, or on its own if the old one has started to blow at the head. An FTO V6 is now an older car, so the original gasket may well be tired and weeping at the joint; fitting a fresh EMG316 restores a clean seal at the flange when the manifold goes back on.
