The MPI Automotive FX-136 is a set of extractors listed to fit the Ford Laser KN and KQ with the 1.6L ZM engine, built Feb 99 to Sep 02. It is the tubular replacement for the factory exhaust manifold on that four-cylinder Laser.
What are extractors and what do they change?
Extractors, also called headers, replace the cast factory exhaust manifold with separate tubular runners from each cylinder. The idea is to let each cylinder push spent gas out with less back-pressure than a shared cast log, which is why workshops fit them when an engine is being freshened or tuned. They change how the engine breathes on the exhaust side rather than adding any internal power part; on a small 1.6L like the Laser ZM the gain is modest and goes hand in hand with the rest of the system.
