The MPI Automotive FX-156 is an extractor listed to fit the Ford Laser KF 1.8L single-cam from 1990 on. It replaces the factory manifold on the single-cam Laser four.
What is an extractor and what does it do?
An extractor, or header, swaps the cast factory exhaust manifold for separate tuned-length tubes that merge downstream. The point is to ease the back-pressure a compact cast manifold creates so each cylinder breathes out more freely. On a single-cam four like the Laser's 1.8L it bolts on at the head as a first exhaust step and does not change the muffler or tailpipe behind it.
