The MPI Automotive FX-161 is an extractor set listed to fit the Ford Falcon XK, XL, XM and XP with the six-cylinder engine. It replaces the factory manifold on these first-generation Australian Falcons.
What is an extractor and what does it change?
An extractor, or header, swaps the cast factory exhaust manifold for separate tuned-length tubes that merge downstream. The aim is to reduce the back-pressure a compact cast manifold creates so each cylinder breathes out more freely. It is a bolt-on change at the cylinder head, common as a first exhaust step on an older inline six, and it does not change the mufflers or tailpipe that follow it.
