Why does the 2WD layout matter?
On these trucks the 2WD and 4WD front ends sit differently — the steering and crossmember occupy different space — so an extractor's runners have to be routed for the specific layout. The FX-191 is shaped for the 2WD F100/F250, which is why that note leads the listing. Fit it to the right front end and the tubes drop in around the chassis; the wrong layout fouls. It is sized to suit the 2WD truck rather than being a universal set.
What does an extractor change on the Cleveland V8?
Extractors, also called headers, replace the cast factory exhaust manifold with individual tubular runners — one per cylinder — that merge into a collector.
