The MPI Automotive FX-201 is a mandrel-bent, 4-into-1 extractor set for the Ford Falcon AU 5.0-litre V8, running 1 3/4in primaries into 3in outlets. It is the uncoated set — bare steel, ready to wrap or coat later if you want. RRP is $1,501.01.
What does a 4-into-1, mandrel-bent set change?
Mandrel bending keeps each tube's internal diameter consistent through its curves rather than crushing it, so the gas path stays clean around the bends. A 4-into-1 layout gives every cylinder its own tuned 1 3/4in primary before all four merge into the 3in outlet — the configuration usually chosen for top-end breathing on a V8. On the AU's 5.0-litre that 1 3/4in primary sizing keeps gas speed up while the merge feeds a 3in system behind it.
Why choose the uncoated set?
This is the bare-steel FX-201, supplied without a ceramic coating. The appeal is the keener entry point and the freedom to finish it yourself — leave it raw, wrap it, or send it for coating down the track. As extractors, the set replaces the cast factory manifolds with tubular runners so the 5.0-litre breathes out more freely than the cast log it replaces.
