The MPI Automotive FX-208FG is a Tri-Y, mild-steel, mandrel-bent extractor set with 1-3/4in primaries and 2-1/2in outlets, listed to fit the Ford FG Falcon 5.4L V8 Boss. It replaces the factory manifolds on that engine.
What is a Tri-Y extractor?
A Tri-Y extractor pairs the runners in two stages before the collector, rather than running straight 4-into-1. The FX-208FG uses 1-3/4in primaries feeding 2-1/2in outlets, mandrel-bent in mild steel. Mandrel bending keeps the tube's full bore through each bend instead of pinching it, and the Tri-Y layout is the design MPI has chosen for the FG Falcon Boss V8. It changes how the engine scavenges exhaust gas rather than being an internal engine part.
