MPI Automotive Mitsubishi Triton Diesel 2.8LT only Extractor.
Category: Extractors and headers

The MPI Automotive FX-449 is a set of extractors listed to fit the Mitsubishi Triton with the 2.8-litre diesel engine. It replaces the factory cast exhaust manifold at the cylinder head with a tubular extractor design, and is specified for the diesel only.
An extractor, or header, swaps the cast manifold bolted to the cylinder head for a set of tubes, giving each port its own runner before they merge. The aim is to reduce the back-pressure the engine works against as it pushes spent gas out. It's the first item in the exhaust line, sitting right at the engine, with the rest of the system running behind it. It's a breathing change at the head; it doesn't alter the engine's capacity or its fuelling.
This set is called out as the 2.8-litre diesel version, and that distinction matters because the Triton was sold with several engines. A diesel's manifold layout, port spacing and surrounding plumbing differ from the petrol versions, so an extractor has to be built specifically to suit it. Tube diameter, material and finish aren't published by the supplier in this listing, so we'd confirm those details with MPI Automotive at order time rather than assume them.
It's listed to fit the Mitsubishi Triton fitted with the 2.8-litre diesel. The Triton ran across several generations and engine options, so the engine in your ute is the detail that settles this set. Fitment here is listed-to-fit rather than guaranteed, because feed data can be imperfect and the actual vehicle is what confirms it. Send us your engine and build details and we'll check the FX-449 against your ute before you order.
Oak Flats Muffler Men supplies and fits Triton extractor sets in-house across the Illawarra. The job means unbolting the old manifold from the head, sealing the new tubular set with fresh gaskets, and confirming it ties cleanly into the existing pipework behind it. Send us your Triton's engine details and we'll verify the FX-449 before booking the bay.
