The Redback K-RPM15695 is a 2.5in cat-back with a rear muffler delete, listed to fit the Holden Commodore VT, VX and VY (Series 1). Deleting the rear box on a 2.5in cat-back is the louder, freer setup for these earlier Commodores.
What does the rear muffler delete change?
Removing the rear muffler takes out the box that does most of the quietening, so the K-RPM15695 exits louder and harder than a system that keeps it. At 2.5in the cat-back is sized for the standard or mildly worked Commodore rather than a big-bore build, and deleting the rear box opens that note up. The catalytic converter side isn't touched.
What does the cat-back cover?
A cat-back runs from the catalytic converter back to the tailpipe. On the VT–VY Series 1 that's the 2.5in centre and rear pipework, here with the rear muffler deleted from the run. The factory cat stays where Holden fitted it, so it's the after-cat flow that changes.
Is the muffler delete road legal in NSW?
It deletes the rear muffler, not the catalytic converter, so noise — not emissions hardware — is the consideration. A deleted rear box raises volume, and NSW stationary and drive-by noise limits apply for registration. Confirm the build and noise requirements with the workshop before fitting.
