Two silencers, no cat — the Pacemaker KB9020-XXMR runs both a centre muffler and a rear resonator on this cat-delete 3in turbo-back for the Mitsubishi Pajero NW (4M41T 3.2L turbo-diesel, June 2012 to November 2016), making it the most subdued of the NW cat-delete builds.
How do the muffler and resonator share the work?
The centre muffler handles the broad absorption, knocking the edge off the 4M41T's overall volume, while the rear resonator is pitched at the cruise band that otherwise booms in the cabin. Run together they give the calmest note among the NW cat-delete options — a system that opens up over stock but still settles down for daily commuting and touring. It is the choice for an owner who wants the freer turbo-back run without putting up with constant freeway drone.
Can the KB9020-XXMR be registered in NSW?
No. The catalytic converter is not part of this build, so it is a cat-delete turbo-back: not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW, and sold for off-road use. We will not pretend otherwise. If your NW Pajero is registered, get in touch about what it needs to stay compliant before you commit to a cat-delete system.
What span does the 3in run cover?
It replaces the exhaust from the turbo outlet to the tailpipe in a single 3in diameter, the full turbo-back length and more pipe than a cat-back. That is the stretch a 3.2L diesel frees up most, and the even bore carries through the centre muffler and the rear resonator along the NW underbody.
