A lone rear resonator does all the silencing on the Pacemaker KB9020-XXXR, a cat-delete 3in turbo-back for the Mitsubishi Pajero NW (4M41T 3.2L turbo-diesel, June 2012 to November 2016). No centre muffler, no catalytic converter — just one frequency-tuned can at the back of an otherwise open run.
What does the single rear resonator deliver?
Unlike a muffler, a resonator does not blanket the whole sound spectrum; it is pitched to cancel the narrow band that turns into cruise boom on the 4M41T. That keeps the run breathing freely while taming the worst of the highway hum. Because the centre muffler and the cat are both gone here, the note lands harder and more present than a cat-keeping resonator build — a popular pick for an NW owner who wants openness with just enough drone control to live with.
Can the KB9020-XXXR be registered in NSW?
No. The catalytic converter is not included, which makes this a cat-delete turbo-back: not ADR 79/04 compliant for road registration in NSW, and sold for off-road use only. There is no way around that on a registered vehicle. If your NW Pajero sees the road, check with us first about what it needs to stay legal before committing to a cat-delete layout.
What span does the 3in run cover?
The pipe is replaced from the turbo outlet back to the tailpipe in one 3in diameter — the turbo-back length, more than a cat-back covers. That is the stretch a 3.2L diesel tends to free up most, and the consistent bore carries through evenly along the NW underbody to the single rear resonator.
