What's in this full 3in FM system?
This is a complete 3in run for the 5.0L V8 FM Mustang: ceramic-coated extractors at the front, a centre hotdog resonator, rear mufflers and a 4in tip finish. It replaces the system from the heads back. Keeping both the hotdog and rear mufflers gives it more silencing than the centre-delete build MPI lists for the same car.
What's an extractor system and what does the coating add?
Extractors replace the factory cast manifolds with tubular primaries so each cylinder gets its own path before merging. The ceramic coating is a thermal barrier that helps keep radiated header heat down in the engine bay, and the centre hotdog is a straight-through resonator that trims drone ahead of the rear mufflers. The honest trade-offs against stock manifolds are more fitting labour and lower clearance; the coating helps with heat, not those.
