The MPI Automotive MKMA0015 is the cat-retaining turbo-back of the 2020-on BT-50 range. Listed to fit the 2020-on Mazda BT-50 3.0L, it keeps the catalytic converter but deletes the rear muffler — the louder, freer build that holds onto the emissions hardware.
What does a with-cat turbo-back cover?
A turbo-back replaces the exhaust from the turbo outlet rearward — the longest span short of the manifold. This one keeps the catalytic converter, so the emissions hardware the 2020-on BT-50 left the factory with stays in place. That's the road-relevant distinction: where the other 2020-on turbo-backs delete the cat, the MKMA0015 retains it, so it's the cat-kept option of the new-generation range.
Why delete the muffler but keep the cat?
This is a deliberate split. The cat stays for the emissions side; the rear muffler is removed purely as a sound and flow choice. Without the muffler, the 2020-on 3.0L diesel note comes through harder and more open than a muffled build — louder than stock, but with the catalytic converter still in place rather than stripped out. It's the breathe-harder-but-keep-the-cat build.
