What is this part?
The MRC33119 is the rear, firewall-side manifold catalytic converter for the 3.0L V6 in the Ford Escape and its Mazda Tribute twin. On a transverse V6 the two banks each have their own manifold cat; this is the rear bank, the one tucked against the firewall. It is a direct converter assembly that keeps the emissions hardware the vehicle left the factory with.
Why replace a manifold cat?
A manifold catalytic converter combines the exhaust manifold and the converter in one unit, and over the years it can fail internally or crack, setting an emissions fault.
