Why ceramic (HPC) coating?
The defining feature of the SSMKFD0312 is its HPC ceramic coating on the extractor. Rather than a raw or bare header, the coating acts as a thermal barrier that holds exhaust heat inside the tube, helping keep underbonnet temperatures down. It resists the bluing and surface corrosion that bare steel headers pick up over time, and arrives in a durable silver finish — no wrapping or coating a raw set later.
What does this full system include?
This is a complete 3in run for the FN Mustang: the HPC-coated extractor at the front, a centre hotdog resonator, rear mufflers, and 4in quad tips at the back. The factory manifolds and exhaust come out and the SSMKFD0312 goes in as one matched package, sized and routed for the 2018-on FN 5.0L V8. The centre hotdog and rear mufflers together shape the note, while the quad tips finish the rear to the Mustang's four-outlet look.
What's an extractor and what changes here?
Extractors are tuned-length headers that replace the restrictive cast manifolds the Coyote V8 wore from the factory, giving each cylinder its own primary tube before they merge to cut back-pressure and improve scavenging. The honest trade-offs hold even on a coated set: they sit in the engine-bay heat zone, take labour to fit, and change the note — though the ceramic coating addresses the heat and corrosion side that a bare header doesn't.
