The MPI Automotive SSMKSZ0009 is a 2-1/2in extractor system with a cat for the Suzuki Jimny XL 5-door 1.5L. It deletes the centre muffler and keeps a rear muffler.
What does this system cover?
This is an extractor-based system for the five-door Jimny XL with the 1.5L engine, sized at 2-1/2in. It includes the cat and runs without a centre muffler but with a rear muffler, so it is a fuller header-back package rather than a tip change. Dropping the centre resonator while keeping the rear box is a common way to free the system up while keeping the note in check.
What is an extractor system and what does it change?
Extractors replace the cast manifold with tuned tubular runners, and the 2-1/2in pipe behind them opens the system over stock on a small four like the Jimny. Keeping the cat means the emissions hardware stays in place; deleting the centre muffler and relying on the rear box changes the character of the note. It will be louder than the factory exhaust, though by how much we have not measured.
