The Redback STR133 is a centre exhaust assembly carrying two mufflers, listed to fit the Holden Commodore VT–VZ. Because it runs a pair of mufflers in the one centre section, it does more of the sound control in the middle of the car than a single-muffler section would.
Why two mufflers in the centre section?
The STR133 is built with twin mufflers in the centre run. A pair of chambered silencers in series gives the system more surface to absorb and reflect sound, which is the honest reason a manufacturer uses two rather than one — more quietening capacity in the same span of the car. It's a centre assembly, so it sits between the front pipe and the rear of the system on the Commodore.
What is a centre muffler assembly?
